It is not medical, legal, structural, electrical or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them. It is a household book written for ordinary domestic tasks.
Every amount, time, temperature and threshold in it was checked against a public source before it was printed — extension services, federal agencies and manufacturers' labels — and the book names the point at which a job stops being household knowledge and tells you to call somebody. Where it does that, please call somebody.
Houses, materials, appliances, water, weather and people all differ. You are responsible for judging whether a method suits your house, for reading the label on any product you use, and for the safety precautions the book states before each method rather than after it. To the fullest extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for loss, damage or injury arising from use of the book. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Prices, product formulations and public guidance change. Every price in the book carries the month it was checked, on a dated page at the back. Treat the dated page as the honest state of things at that date, not a promise about today.
